Tamarindo Surf Academy

Learned to surf in Tamarindo, Costa Rica last week. It was challenging despite growing up beaching along the Atlantic Ocean. I still had some fears of the Pacific and the grandeur of the water. I'm glad I did it and was able to graduate to some medium waves in playa Avellanas. A separate trip, well worth the add on. Big thank you to my coach Rigo at Tamarindo Surf Academy for being an awesome professional instructor, patient, understanding, and most of all being there when he said he would to navigate me through any concers and the bigger waves. I would not have been able to enjoy and celebrate successful surfing without Rigo's guidance.

It’s at this surf school that I found the most wonderful surf instructor, Rigo. He clearly went out of his way many times to support me, especially when I struggled with my board or the waves. He always made me feel encouraged and never uncomfortable, no matter the challenge. Rigo is not only a truly lovely person, but also someone who genuinely loves his job and surfing. He’s incredibly good at sharing that passion and helping others improve. Thanks to him, I’ve reached a new level in my surfing journey. I recommend him and this school 100% !

We were in Tamarindo for our second time. We had done lessons the previous trip 2 years earlier. They were great - but we decided we would like to go with a smaller company that was less busy. 2 years ago we chose a very busy company and it was quite hectic as the group was larger and area we surfed was very busy. Victor and his team provided an amazing 2 hour lesson and we had a great time. We all were able to get up on our board even though the waves were quite large when we were there. Our kids are 12 and 14 and had an incredible experience.

My kids got a lesson from Victor and Rodolfo. It as a really great lesson. Very kind and patient instructors that new what they were doing. Highly recommend.
