Stand Up And Speak

I recently took the Adult Online Public Speaking course with Lori-Ann as my instructor. She was absolutely incredible! I hate public speaking and find it incredibly daunting, but Lori-Ann made the material approachable and engaging! You can tell how much she cares for the subject and for her students. She provides good tips and practical feedback after each public speaking opportunity, along with the genuine praise and support that keeps you showing up each week. For anyone who is nervous about public speaking but ready to give it a try - I highly recommend this course and Lori-Ann!

I loved my 6 years as a student at Stand Up and Speak. The teachers are incredibly dedicated, passionate and very knowledgeable. Because of their program, I have become more confident than I could have ever imagined. The public speaking competitions that they organize showed me that speaking in front of large audiences isn’t as scary as we first think it is. Stand Up and Speak training made a huge difference in my life and taught me how to be a better presenter, public speaker and it completely changed the way I present myself. Stand Up and Speak taught me the skills that helped me excel during job interviews and have the courage to start a conversation with anybody. I would highly recommend Stand Up and Speak to anyone that is looking to improve their confidence and communication skills. It can truly change your life.

She made the sessions engaging, fun, and incredibly effective. I noticed a huge improvement in my speaking skills thanks to her guidance. If I could, I would give more than five stars! can’t say enough good things about Stand Up and Speak! My daughter’s been going for three years now and she absolutely loves it. Every time, I see her confidence grow more and more , not just with public speaking, but in how she expresses herself in everyday life. The teachers are so kind and supportive, and they make learning fun and comfortable for everyone. I’m so grateful for this program and everything it’s done for her. it truly helped her find her voice.

My daughter attended the session regarding “The Power of One Voice”. Lori-Ann explained everything thoroughly with wonderful examples and showed some humour in some examples. From fun, tongue twisters, different levels of raising/expressing your voice (hard, soft, loud, and quiet) to making us prepared for the big competition where everyone has to rehearse the same script, what to expect and giving us a hint on the judging criteria. Thank you Lori-Ann, my daughter and I loved the way you explained and persuaded us to be better for the big competition!!

Stand Up and Speak is a complete game changer for people skills, confidence, ice breakers, debating, speaking, and so much more. Throughout the 6 years I have been a part of this program, not only have I improved my public speaking, but I have become far more confident in speaking with others, doing school presentations, and debating. As a shy kid, the wonderful team at Stand Up and Speak gave me the confidence (and speaking ability) to create relationships, make friends, and build community. This year I joined my schools debate club, and I knew nothing about debate. My first debate tournament.. I placed first! The judges notes detailed my impressive speaking ability, confidence, pacing, volume, and clearness. I owe my skills and accomplishments to Stand Up and Speak, as it is the program that has benefitted almost every part of my life. During my first interview, my interviewer complemented how confident, clear, and well spoken I was. He stated afterward that my speaking ability was what set me apart from those with better resumes and experience. This opportunity, and many others like come from skills developed in this wonderful program. I would recommend Stand Up and Speak to everyone, as public speaking is a skill important in nearly every situation, and this is best the place to learn it.

Lori was great, as she helped my son with co-op interview for a hospital. She was able to come up with many questions that could be asked in the interview, making my son much more prepared than he was before. Lori gave detailed suggestions on posture, gestures, and small details that can really matter in an interview.

I’m a student in stand up and speak senior competitive class, and it’s amazing. All the teachers are very professional and give you great advice on your public speaking. There are many competitions for all grades if you want your child to compete, and many activities so your child can improve their confidence. Such a good program, I’ve been going here for 3 years.

Working with Ms. Jakel was a life-changing experience for me. She took the time to understand my needs and helped me prepare for my college admissions interviews in a way that felt incredibly supportive and encouraging. Her warm approach made the learning sessions enjoyable, and I noticed a real improvement in my communication and presentation skills. Most importantly, she helped me believe in myself and face my interviews with new confidence. I’m truly grateful for her guidance and would recommend her to anyone wanting to grow and succeed!
