A research study led by Dr. Pappolla and other investigators across the United States, including the National Institutes of Health, were able for the first time, to segregate a population of patients with fibromyalgia from normal controls based on a modification of a common laboratory test. This discovery may shed light on the cause of some forms of chronic pain including fibromyalgia. Preliminary research also showed a dramatic symptom improvement as a result of a novel pharmacological treatment. Here is a fast take of our findings which could lead to a paradigm shift on how to treat some forms of chronic pain.
