I supplied all parts for an Audi auxiliary belt, tensioner, and alternator pulley replacement. The parts were OEM-equivalent branded components sourced from GSF. Labour was quoted at £50 on the phone prior to attendance.
During the job it became clear the mechanic was unfamiliar with Audi/VAG procedure. The work was rushed, I had to guide parts of the process, and excessive force was used on a brand-new belt tensioner (spanner with a long extension bar). As a result, the repair could not be completed and the car was left undriveable. I was then informed that the labour cost had increased due to additional time spent, despite no revised quotation being discussed or agreed before work continued.
I was told the tensioner was “faulty,” despite the issue only appearing after it was forced during installation. To avoid escalation, I paid £80 for labour even though the job was not completed.
After leaving, I was contacted again and offered a replacement part and reinstall for an additional £80, which I declined due to lack of confidence in the workmanship.
I am now forced to pay again to have the job completed at a proper garage. Based on my direct experience, I would not recommend this mechanic for Audi or similar vehicles and strongly advise carrying out thorough due diligence before booking.
