Why Small Chips Spread Faster in Hot Weather
Heat can cause existing stone chips to crack suddenly as glass contracts and expands. The sun heating the glass from the outside of the car and the air conditioning cooling the inside can make the small chip spread into a long crack. If it cracks over 10cm it may not be repairable.
