Follow this checklist to keep things flowing smoothly:
Pump Your Tank: If you’re due for service, do it now! Frozen ground makes it much harder to access your tank during a mid-winter emergency.
Insulate Exposed Pipes: Use pipe sleeves or heat tape on any visible lines to prevent freezing and cracking.
Fix Leaks Now: Even a small drip in a faucet can lead to a frozen, blocked sewer line.
Clear the Drainfield: Ensure no vehicles are parked on your drainfield and clear away any heavy debris. Compacted snow and weight can damage the system.
Apply Mulch or Grass Cover: A fresh layer of mulch or thick grass over your tank and pipes acts as natural insulation against the deep freeze.
