Update: Thank you for the response. Just a thought about the passenger possibility being "the client" If that were true, then why would he move into the drivers seat and prepare to move the truck just before the driver appeared?
Do you let clients operate your vehicles?
If it was possible to rate this company a zero, i would.
Although i wasn't a client, the way their drivers/representatives port themselves with the public speaks volumes to the companies integrity.
I was exiting my lane way, and when i reached the mouth onto the road, the entire lane exit was blocked by a large South Central flatbed tow truck. I honked the horn to get someone's attention, but when there was no moment or activity, i exitted my car and approached the truck.
There was a person in the passenger seat. When i told him, the truck was blocked the lane. The response was simply "I'm not the driver". When I asked about the driver, we started getting into a debate that was more irritating than helpful. This guy had no concern or empathy for the situation. He told me to back up all the way to the other end of the lane to get out. That would mean going one city block in reverse in a narrow lane. The response I got was just a smirk. By this time I started getting angry and of course he got defensive but took the time to look back at the situation and then moved into the drivers seat ready to pull the truck up the 10 or so feet needed for me to get out. This whole exchange could have been avoided if he had only listened the first time and cared enough to correct the situation .
Before he got a chance to move the truck, the driver showed up and played the whole situation iff as nothing. It must have been 5 to 10 minutes that i had been stuck there.
When i took a photo of the truck and returned to my car, the driver got out and approached my car. Said that taking a photo was unnecessary... I said it was because i wanted the phone number on it. He then laughed at me and said, "Go ahead and call as if that would make a difference."
I did call and did report the incident. I don't have much confidence that these guys will even be talked to, let alone this being an opportunity for coaching them in how to interact with the public and possible future clients. Bridges burnt!
