What to Eat (and What to Avoid) with Braces 🦷✨

Starting your orthodontic journey is exciting—and caring for your braces is the key to getting the best results and keeping your smile healthy. One of the most important things to know is which foods are brace-friendly and which foods to avoid.

✅ Recommended Foods
These are gentle on your braces and easy to chew:
    •    Soft fruits (bananas, berries, peaches without pits)
    •    Cooked vegetables (steamed carrots, mashed potatoes, broccoli)
    •    Dairy (yogurt, cheese, smoothies)
    •    Pasta, rice, and soft breads
    •    Tender meats (chicken, fish, meatballs)
    •    Soft treats (pancakes, muffins without nuts, ice cream without crunchy mix-ins)

🚫 Foods to Avoid
These can break brackets, bend wires, or get stuck in your braces:
    •    Hard foods (nuts, popcorn, pretzels, ice, hard candies)
    •    Sticky foods (caramel, chewing gum, gummy bears)
    •    Crunchy raw vegetables or fruits (apples, carrots—unless cut into small soft pieces)
    •    Chewy foods (bagels, licorice, tough steak)
    •    Corn on the cob (cut kernels off first!)

💡 Pro Tip: Always cut your food into smaller pieces and chew carefully with your back teeth. Keeping your braces safe will help your treatment stay on track—and keep your smile shining bright!
