Shimmy Shimmy Dance Studio - Medford

My friend and I took a class here and had such a great experience. This studio in Medford, New York offers a really welcoming space for women’s dance classes. My friend and I were both new, and Heather was incredibly patient with us. She took the time to come over to each of us individually and walk us through the moves so we could really understand what we were doing. It made the whole experience comfortable, supportive, and fun. I would definitely recommend it to any woman looking for dance classes in the area.

My daughter has been taking aerial classes here for 2 years. The owner Heather is incredible to work with and flexible which is great with kids classes. Medford location teacher Grace is great with my girl, and makes class incredibly fun. I have even taken private classes myself with my daughter and it was so fun and quite the workout.

I’ve always wanted to try pole dancing but was unsure if I’d ever be any good. A friend of mine started and mentioned it to me, so I figured I’d give it a try. This was one of the best decisions I’ve ever made. I’ve never seen myself gain confidence doing something the way I do in Heather’s pole foundations class. She is an AMAZING teacher - kind, patient, and positive. The perfect recipe for a mentor when learning something new. Shimmy is my escape for the week and I look forward to next weeks class the second I leave. If you’re debating on trying let this be your sign. You will feel so proud of all you can achieve in such a short amount of time. 😊

I absolutely love Shimmy Shimmy! I decided to try the flexibility class last year, and it turned out to be one of the best choices I’ve ever made. Since then, I’ve taken a variety of classes—each one is different, fun, and always gives me a great workout. Nearly a year later, I still go whenever I can. Heather, the dance instructor, is incredibly kind and supportive. Whenever I struggle with a move, she takes the time to guide me until I get it right. The atmosphere at Shimmy Shimmy is welcoming and inclusive for all levels. I’m so glad I gave it a shot. If you’re even a little curious about the classes they offer, I highly recommend trying one—you won’t regret it!

Shimmy Shimmy has been my favorite workout spot on Long Island. The owner, Heather, cultivates an inviting space for people of all types, ages, sizes, etc so that anyone can enjoy class in a judgement free zone. She keeps class feeling positive while providing a challenging workout. If a trick is not making sense to you, she takes the time describing it in different ways until it finally clicks. And when you get that skill, Heather celebrates with you! Another instructor I had, Grace, did a great job at breaking down skills and giving different stretches and conditioning for those specific skills. The pole dance community at Shimmy Shimmy has been lovely. Everyone I have met there is so supportive and genuinely gets excited when another person in class gains a new skill. Not only do you get a full body workout, but you leave feeling powerful, confident, and beautiful!

I absolutely love attending classes here! It is such a fun and positive environment. I started attending as a complete beginner with zero dance experience and felt extremely comfortable and welcome. It’s a great workout and the highlight of my week! I’ve now been attending classes for over a year and drive over an hour each way every time because of how much I love it here! Heather is absolutely amazing and personable, she makes everyone feel welcome and gets to know each individual that comes to class. The class sizes of up to around 7 people are perfect and she kindly pays attention to and helps everyone! I highly recommend coming here.
