Thanks so much for getting the gas fireplace up and running. Very thorough job of getting it cleaned and safe to use. Justin even took the time to explain how the remote works. Highly recommended them and will definitely use them again.

Professional and Courteous. Great service after the installation. I’m very happy with the final product. I only have one complaint. Once the unit came in, it took a while to schedule an installation time. I even had to reschedule a pre-installation inspection after taking the day off. When the installation day came, I was surprised to see the amount of prep work that still needed to be done. The insert needed assembled and the chimney cap needed final assembly and painting. This took a considerable amount of time which didn’t leave time for final adjustments and a rushed run through of the remote. Despite all of this, they were prompt and courteous to make adjustments needed and explain any issues found through additional visits. They even took care of some charring above the fireplace left over from when it was a wood burner. In the end, the unit turned out beautifully.

Excellent service and high quality of work by Justin and his team! We contacted Shen Valley Fireplace and Chimney to look at our non-vented gas fireplace due to the smell and black discharge that discolored our mantle when in use. Justin came out and looked at our existing setup and recommended a vented fireplace (which we supported) and offered a website and pamphlet to choose our new fireplace. During the inspection, he found the home (which we had recently purchased) had previously had a vented fireplace but for whatever reason the previous owner replaced it with a non-vented fireplace. He shared the pros and cons of both types. Justin ordered our new fireplace and did an excellent job with the installation. He and his team’s attention to detail and focus on ensuring protection of our home/floors during installation were noted and greatly appreciated. He provided a thorough review of the new fireplace and its functionality after install. We appreciate the great customer service during and after the installation. His willingness to be available after the install, if needed. was highlighted and appreciated. I have posted before and after pictures and note that Justin did the fireplace and we had already lined up another contractor to the shiplap and mantle. We learned during our initial visit that Justin also does this work - wish we had known before as we would have used him to do it all! Many thanks for the great job and quick turnaround. Contacted the company with regards to having a wood stove insert installed in our fireplace. Justin had his crew come up and take all of the measurements necessary to ensure he could recommend the appropriate sized unit for our size of fireplace. Justin recommended a few different manufacturers and models and we ended going with one he had not recommended. He researched our choice and said it should work, but he came and remeasured to make sure it would. He ordered everything that was needed, checked to make sure there was no damaged or missing parts and got it all installed. Justin did notice some weather damage on our chimney and recommended some repair options to be done at a later date. Justin also was not happy with the paint he had used for the surround and vents and redid them until they matched the insert. Justin and his crew did a very nice job on the install both inside and out and left the job site clean at the end of each day. I have no reservations recommending She Valley Fireplace and Chimney.

From the very fist conversation we had with SVFC it was clear that they were the right choice of contractor for our custom fireplace project. Justin’s knowledge and experience were evident very quickly as he helped us navigate our way through the planning phase of this project. From empty wall to the centerpiece of our home his experience was invaluable in turning our vision into reality. The masonry, being the most visible and expensive portion of the project is where SVFC really shines. Our experience with Brian is what sets this company apart. Throughout the project he would ask for our opinion of his work. He valued our feedback, often reworking portions to more accurately align with our vision for the project. Brian is the toughest critic of his own work, and would rework sections that weren’t up to his own high standard as well. I honestly believe that no home renovation company in or around the Shenandoah Valley compete with the knowledge and experience of SVFC. *BOTTOM LINE* Shen Valley Fireplace and Chimney is a phenomenal company! Justin went above and beyond to make sure that this project was taken care of. Even at his own expense, he took care of what needed to be done (Read on for details). First of all, I contacted multiple fireplace installers and was given extremely crazy estimates. It was so outrageous that my wife and I felt that this was not going to be our year for replacing our fireplace. However, I decided to call one last company…a new company that only had a few reviews--Shen Valley Fireplace and Chimney—and we’re so glad we did! The original unit that he installed had issues. Whenever we turned on the blower, for the unit to push out warm air, it would push smoke out into the house. Justin took a look at it and felt that it was unsafe to be used. He reached out to the supplier and to the manufacturer. He was put into direct contact with engineers for the company and pointed out to them that it had design flaws that he considered dangerous. The company and the engineers refused to remedy the issue and said that the flaws, and our home filling up the smoke, was within “tolerance.” Justin felt that it was in our best interest for safety to replace the unit with a new unit from a different manufacturer at his own expense! He said that he would not put our lives at risk, or our home in danger, because a big corporate company did not want to step up for their installers. Thanks to Justin and his company, Shen Valley Fireplace and Chimney, we are able to have nice toasty nights in front of a beautiful fireplace. I believe, in my own opinion, that it would be impossible to find a more reputable and honest fireplace company in this area. Justin you have our gratitude and appreciation. Avoid Justin and Shen Valley Fireplace and Chimney at All Costs! * Shoddy workmanship on vent installation: The work quality was atrocious. It's clear they have no idea what they're doing. * Metal mending disaster: They did a hack job on the metal mending. It was so poorly done, it's laughable – it left a hole for water to pour in. Just look at these pictures! It's a joke. * Sealing? What sealing?: You can see daylight through the chimney from inside the house! This is basic stuff – completely botched. * Spray paint catastrophe: As if the shambles of an installation wasn't enough, they spray painted the chimney and sloppily got it all over the roof panels. Thanks to their incompetence, we had to replace them entirely. * Costly nightmare: Their blundering forced us to hire a competent vendor to fix this mess, setting us back $4,000. * Legal hassle over their mess: The audacity of Justin and Shen Valley Fireplace and Chimney is astounding. Their work was subpar, and now they're dragging us through legal mud for not paying the remaining 25% of their botched job. Bottom Line: Our experience with Shen Valley Fireplace and Chimney was a complete disaster. Their service was beyond subpar; it was a fiasco that cost us time, money, and peace of mind. I urge you to stay away from them.

UPDATE: I had them out today for a cleaning and inspection and Clay and Kelly were great. They were professional and super nice, and it was a great experience again from this company! We are thrilled with our new Jotul gas fireplace installed by Justin and Brian. These guys are fantastic and go above and beyond! Highly recommend.
