I would give zero stars if I could. I agree with all of the other one star reviews about this groomer. I was a long time customer of the previous owner of Shaggy Chic and she was wonderful. We never had any issues with them. My dogs were always groomed perfectly and with respect. When Jen and the new owners took over this business a few months ago it all went down hill. Absolutely terrible customer service. Not friendly at all and used the same excuse as others have mentioned, saying my one dog was “terrible” and “horrible” and hard to groom. Appointments were always having to be rescheduled due to her “schedule”. It has been such a disappointment to have the new owners take over what used to be such an amazing groomer. I would never take my dogs back here and would never recommend this groomer to anyone. Also, after reading her responses to the other reviews, she seems to always have the same excuses. Very poor customer service.

Jenn is the best When i got my golden doodle it was from a previous client that needed to rehome. The transition was amazing and she is such a blessing. And of course Jenn still grooms my babies

We have been customers of Shaggy Chic since 2013 and have loved our experiences with prior two owners. They took time to get to know our dog and while she had anxiety about getting groomed, she would wag her tail and be very excited to see the owners, because they took time to establish a relationship with her. We really appreciated their thoughtful care and intentional communication. The new ownership experience was sadly very disappointing from a customer interaction standpoint. When we entered the salon, she asked our dog’s name but did not introduce herself. She gave a brief overview of some changes such as new natural shampoos and gave a ballpark timeline of when to pick up our dog. She also asked if there were any skin conditions such as cysts, lumped or warts which I appreciated. At this time, I expressed that it was often an issue for my dog to get her nails trimmed and that previously we would come in and help hold the dog so that her nails could get trimmed safely and offered to do this during this first grooming appointment which she declined. We received a text saying “she is all set” , and came to get our pet. The first thing that was said as I entered the salon was not a greeting, or preface on how the grooming went, but rather an explanation on how the groomer won’t work with difficult dogs and has had injuries from difficult dogs when grooming. And then immediately recommended we find another groomer better fit to groom our dog. This was a very confusing and disappointing way to hear how the appointment went as there was no context as to why she was saying this until she finally expressed she felt my dog was too anxious to be groomed safely or appropriately. Again, we have been coming to Shaggy Chic for 12 years and the only concerns ever expressed and addressed with our help, were our dog’s struggle to clip nails, so this felt like an abrupt first interaction. While explaining how the appointment went, they stated they did the best they could with our dog’s cut. They explained how they used restraints as needed, and couldn’t fully trim her face ,however when we got home, I finished trimming her face but also found that she wasn’t properly or fully bathed as she had tear stains still matted on her face, her glands were not emptied, and she had fecal matter caked under her tail. It was never expressed in our interaction that bathing was a safety concern or that they weren’t able to complete her bath, which was also disappointing to see the lack of detail with her bathing. I agree and support the need for both the animal and groomer to feel safe in this type of environment. However, the lack of communication was really disappointing after having been with Shaggy Chic for 12 years and working together with both previous owners, to successfully groom our dog in a caring environment. There was no attempt to call or text during the appointment to communicate that the grooming appointment was challenging, or a request for one of us to come and help, which we had offered at the beginning of the appointment, nor was there any context when we arrived to pick up our dog as to what went wrong or what attempts they made to connect and calm our dog down. One of the groomers did offer to try one more time if our pet was given anxiety medication but they also expressed they weren’t sure if that was enough to help. Overall, we were really disappointed with the communication, quality of service, and care shown to our dog. While I respect the groomers option to determine which clients they want to work with, we were able to work through a prior ownership change without issue while still maintaining a high level of care for our dog, and a great relationship. This was a disappointing way to leave a small business we have loved supporting and have trusted with our family pet for the last 12 years

New to area so first time using groomer. Our dog is a 15-16 year old 5# Maltese. Very pleased with the haircut and especially the ears. Made him look like a little puppy. Appreciated that he was not there for more than a hour.

I usually don't do reviews, but wanted to do one on Shaggy Chic. I just read several reviews that truly upset me and I want to set the record straight. I have never been so impressed on the professionalism and care and kindness that my dogs are given. The salon is safe and clean. Natural products are used which I know costs the groomers more money and alot will use as cheap of product as possible unless you pay extra . My dog is given 1 on 1 attention, is not put in a cage to sit for hours while they work on multiple dogs. I want my dog to have a 1 on 1 experience from beginning to end, without being blow dried in a cage like a lot of groomers do to save time You can tell that Jen , the owner, truly cares about each dog and the grooms that she does are unbelievable. My dogs run to her when they see her and can't wait to get groomed. She takes her time to do a professional groom, not just the easy way out total "shave down" that many groomers these days only know how to do. She is very knowledgeable about correct breed cuts. She listened to what I wanted. My goldens are always beautifully bathed and groomed. I have been in the dog and horse world showing all my life and I know the difference between a bad and good groom. She also puts a picture of your pup on their Facebook page. They get special attention bows , feathers , a handkerchief and smell SO GOOD. Which is the proof of how awesome their grooms are. I would not go anywhere else. I absolutely recommend using them for a grooming experience for your baby. If you truly care about your dog's experience at a salon, I suggest you go here. I highly recommend Shaggy Chic in Mechanicsburg PA

After over 15 years with last 2 groomer owners of Shaggy Chic doing a wonderful job with our very sweet dogs was extremely disappointed with new groomer owners unprofessional and unkind manner. Canceling and not rescheduling appointments. Especially mistreatment of our precious 12 year old sweet dog. He was left laying for an hour wet in tub because owner would not help him out. Never fully bathed him and never dried him. He was dipping wet for an hour. Never trimmed his toenails. He was the sweetest dog and never gave any trouble to last 2 groomer/owners. This neglect is unacceptable to treat someone's pet. Then as others were told to find another groomer and canceled ALL appointments. Very unprofessional and heartless. Never meant a groomer so unkind. We have since found excellant caring groomers who actually treat our dogs with kindness. It was a blessing, we are much happier with new groomers.
