Severe Contracting replaced our carpeted stairs and basement with quality vinyl planking, as requested. The project turned out beautifully and within budget. They magically managed to retain the original banister which took some creative effort because of how it had been installed. Staff was great to deal with and proved to be highly responsive and very committed.

I hired Steven to remodel my basement. Overall he did a great job. I liked his flexibility and responsiveness in listening to my concerns and ensuring that they’re done at many times with no additional cost to me. There’s room for improvement but I believe he’s one of those persons to watch out for. His passion and drive to succeed is admirable.

0/5 Stay away. We had a nightmare of an experience with Severe Contracting. We had a contract and paid according to our payment schedule, plus an extra contract for custom closet inserts. 4 months into the project, 2 weeks before the completion date, he asked for $25K more, refused to provide a rationale, stalled for 3 more weeks, then quit, leaving the project (our kitchen and main floor bathroom) unfinished. Refused to refund the closet $ and left us scrambling to pay off his subcontractors and finish it ourselves. We have had 3 independent contractors assess the work his crew did; most of it is absolutely terrible and needs to be ripped out and redone, from the painting to the plumbing. We are unable to install a hood vent or cooktop because they installed 4" ducting - because of the building code, we need to rip out the ceiling and run 6" ducting. He should have known. 0/5, would not recommend.

Steeven and the crew did an awesome job turning an unfinished basement into a beautiful addition to our living space. We now have an extra bathroom, bedroom, living room with a TV wall and a fireplace plus ample storage. We are quite happy with the result.
