An East Dallas apartment complex in the Casa Linda area had an unfortunate biohazard situation on their hands. This circumstance is always tough for everyone involved. The apartment complex must get the affected area sanitized and cleaned, along with getting any removed materials replaced. The SERVPRO of Dallas Central team was called to assist with the very important job. To start, appropriate personal safety measures must be taken by our team including donning PPE (personal protective equipment). Next, we use a black light to assist in determining the complete scope of what needs to be done. Items will either need to be cleaned (typically if non-porous) or removed if porous like carpet or clothes. However, as with water, fluids can seep through floor and other materials which then would need to be removed to clean and sanitize the layers below. Affected material will need to be bagged securely and disposed of in accordance with the state. Often there is an odor but removal of the affected materials should take care of most of it.
