Toyota Suspends Grand Highlander, Lexus TX Production Over Airbag Issue
Toyota Motor Corporation announced the suspension of production and delivery of the 2024 Grand Highlander and Lexus TX SUVs, citing an airbag deployment issue. The company previously said it is also recalling 145,000 of the SUVs in the U.S. due to the issue, which poses safety risks if the driver's window is rolled down during certain crashes.
"Production and deliveries of the three-row SUVs are halted until a remedy can be determined. An improvement for mass-produced vehicles is currently under study," Toyota said in a press release. The automaker said affected vehicles might not meet federal safety standards, thereby increasing the risk of injury during specific types of collisions.
