Sedaris did a fantastic job sanding and refinishing our floors, installing new stair treads and sanding & finishing them as well. They handled a combination of unfinished red oak + prefinished white & red oak, making them match perfectly with other prefinished oak upstairs. They were very reasonable on price and even provided us a wonderful thank you swag box afterward! Can't recommend them highly enough. Professional. And they kept dust to an absolute minimum.

My parents had previously worked with this company on multiple occasions with great results. Even though the owner had changed I decided to work with them to put down my hardwoods. However, I did not receive the same results. Firstly, they placed multiple 8 inch and 12 inch boards in my master bedroom, secondary room, and hallway. They clustered these boards leading to one row of my hallway being made up entirely of short boards. After communicating that I didn’t like the clustered short boards, I was told what they could do to replace the board which was take them up and nail them through the top. I communicated that I didn’t like the idea and to leave the short boards as I would just live with them. I even called the owner of the company to let him know about my concerns but he refused to pickup my calls twice. I had to have a family member reach out which confirmed that he was ignoring my calls. I then came back to find the short boards pulled up and new boards nailed down. This left me with nailed boards surrounded by damaged boards from where they had pulled up the floors. I called the owner again in which he finally answered and agreed to walk through the house with me so we could settle everything. I was then told the best they could do was to patch the cracks in my flooring. The patching was awful. It doesn’t match my floors and looks like dirt. I was also told the patch would harden but it hasn’t and has gotten stuck to my socks and chipped/cracked in between pieces of wood where it was used. Overall, I was left with nailed hardwoods that weren’t supposed to have visible nails, gaps between pieces of wood, and boards with chipped ends. I also feel like I was not listened to about my concerns. I was even asked by the owner of the company where I was going to put furniture to see if it would cover their mistakes. I feel like these results are unacceptable for the price I had to pay. At one point, I was offered a discount because of the issues but then once it was time for me to pay they said I was never offered a discount. Please refer to the images I’ve attached.

We couldn’t be happier with our experience. This is the **only** company we’ve ever trusted to refinish our hardwood floors, and we’re repeat customers from over 20 years ago—which says it all. Bertin, Adrian and Perla - incredibly nice, honest, and patient, especially when helping us figure out the perfect stain color. They never rushed us and made sure we felt confident in every decision. The final result is absolutely beautiful—our floors look stunning. True professionals who clearly care about their work and their customers. Highly, highly recommend!

AMAZING! The team at Sedaris Floors is wonderful. Clear communication, very competitive pricing, and top quality work. We had 1st floor of home refinished as well as some warped flooring repaired - the floor came out beautiful and the repaired parts were not at all evident. Quick, efficient and left house very clean. Highly recommended!

This is a first rate company. Communication was excellent, starting with Burton, who came out to see what needed to be done. I received the estimate quickly, and they called to schedule a time for the job to be done. The gentleman who replaced the old boards and installed the new ones was meticulous, and when I had questions, Burton was always available by phone to answer my questions. The entire job was seamless, and I’m so pleased with the results. If you choose Sedaris, and Burton is your project manager, you will be in good hands!

Fantastic and friendly service from the entire staff beginning with the front desk employee, to the estimator (Bertin) and the team that did the work. Communication was clear from estimate through completion. We had hardwoods installed in a primary bedroom through the bathroom and closet. Crew was meticulous in matching existing hardwoods. Crew maintained a clean work space and minimalized dust in remainder of home. Floors look beautiful! I wouldn’t hesitate to recommend Sedaris.

We have used Sedaris flooring for many years for every hardwood project except a small office floor several years ago. We recently wanted to get carpet replaced with hardwood in 2 rooms and a few dings fixed in our master which were on ~4-5 boards. Initially Sedaris sent a person out for a quote and he gave us the price for exactly what we wanted done and never told us this cannot be done or you need to do an extra xyz. When we went back to schedule the work they said they needed to send someone else for a quote. That is fine maybe the initial had expired but hadn’t been that long I do have both quotes dates somewhere. They sent a new guy who basically came in and upsold the project. He claimed they could not just fix the few dings in the master bedroom like the first person said , they needed to “sand/buff/coat” the entire master floor . He also told us they would weave the existing hallway floor outside of my sons bedroom into the new bedroom hardwood floors; therefore the few boards in the hall outside the would need to be redone so in order for everything to look the same, we needed to buff and coat the entire hallway/closet and my office which is at the end of the hallway. Because we had used them several times we trusted what they said. We left and went out of the country while they worked. The only issue they ever reported to us was the alarm went off when they entered the house the first morning. However when I came home I immediately noticed the bedroom floors were lighter than the hall and they did NOT weave the wood from the hallway into my sons bedroom which was the whole reason we “needed to get the hallway/closet and office done”. When we talked to the people at Sedaris it was excuse after excuse. They never told us they didn’t do the weave and claimed well it was because you were out of the country. That was a terrible excuse bc they knew how to and did contact me. As soon as I got off the plane and saw a message from them I was in contact with them regarding the alarm. On top of that we had TWO people coming to check on the house and they never one time told either of them there was an issue or they needed to contact us. On top of that they were dishonest bc they should have adjusted the bill since they didn’t weave but they never mentioned it and downplayed it like oh it’s only 25 bucks after we pointed it out to them. The fact is I would’ve never gotten the hall/closet and office done so the loss is beyond the “25”. They looked at the floors and said they match but in the same breath they claimed the floors couldn’t match in color bc the oils etc have soaked into the hallway wood over the years and that makes it darker. My question to them is why would you Ever come here telling me I need to do this and that to make the floors match ( and color match is written throughout the quote and bill) and you apparently knew you could not match them. Why would you not tell me we couldn’t weave the boards or know that if you couldn’t weave the boards just say there is no need to waste money and get the hall/closet and office done? I am not sure who is running the company now. The first few times we worked with them Mr Sedaris himself came out and was involved. Now he seems to be hands off and this new set of reps seems to be in for the money, making promises they can’t keep and upselling just for the sake of it. Very disappointing

Sedaris did a really good job refinishing our 30+ year old hardwoods. The team was very efficient and always on time. They were knowledgeable, patient with all my questions and cleaned up each day. I would highly recommend them for all of your flooring needs.

Edit: Sedaris reached out to us after the review below was posted, and they resolved the issue with the wiring. We wish they had remediated the lack of communication proactively before seeing a negative review, but we are now fully happy with the look and quality of the work their team did. — We used Sedaris for a full first floor replacement. The floors look good. However, communication with our project coordinator was terrible, and this led to several problems with the end product. We had the project done prior to moving into our home, and we frequently reached out to the coordinator to check on status and determine when we should stop by to check on progress. We were more often than not ignored when we called, texted, and emailed to request updates. They never did a walkthrough with us during or after the project. We had to pester them to actually complete the work and clean up. Among other issues, we currently have a live wire sticking up through a hole in the hardwoods where an island used to sit. This was a misunderstanding of our instructions on their part that could have been avoided by communicating with us. We’re really disappointed by Sedaris floors and wish we’d gone with another company.
