Can't say enough amazing things about this place! I broke my little "cute" sewing machine and these kind folks got me up and running again! Was it worth fixing? Questionable... Do I adore it? Absolutely! I buy cute and I'm so glad that thanks to their expertise, my Janome sewing machine will live to see another day! 10 outta 10 recommend!

I have an old, mechanical, Pfaff Select 1540, sewing machine, that I’ve had for about 25 yrs. It’s been a workhorse for me over the years and helped me create me many costumes, clothes, alterations, you name it. When the presser foot started to freeze up, I panicked. The first place I took it tried twice to fix the issue but it always came back within a few months. I know that they didn’t replace anything, “just cleaned well and added lubricant.” Obviously, that didn’t work. I gave up and bought a new machine. But I just couldn’t bring myself to get rid of my old Pfaff. I really hoped it could still be fixed. I ran across Sarah Sewing Machines while doing a search for repair shops in the area. Quite a few of the reviews talked about how Ashraf was able resurrect broken machines so I thought I’d give him a try. Ashraf immediately knew what the issue was and was confident he could fix it. He was upfront with the cost of the repair (included maintenance), which was reasonable and it was finished in a couple weeks. Ashraf said he replaced some parts in the presser foot bar so I’m way more confident that it’s not going to freeze up again! When I got home, I whipped up a quick book cover to give the machine a test drive. Stitches were perfect, tension was great and the presser foot went up and down without a hitch! I’m so happy to have my old machine back!! Thanks, Ashraf!

Today I received the absolute best service at Sarah Sewing Machines at their Columbia, Maryland location! I have a 35 year old Pfaff that needed service and it was expertly diagnosed and repaired within hours the same day! I was truly amazed and so very pleased and would highly recommend Sarah's for your service needs. Time was also taken to show me the repairs made and also some helpful operating tips. Today I had a wonderful experience with Ashraf at Sarah Sewing Machine shop in Columbia, Md. My Singer was in need of repair and he took the time to assess the situation and let me know that I needed a new bobbin case (I believe is the right name!). He cleaned the compartment, used a compressor to get lint, dust etc out of the internal parts of the machine and oiled all components. He realigned the needle and practiced with each stitch. I wanted to purchase a Janome sewing machine from Sarah Sewing Machines along with some accessories. So I sent them an email asking some questions; Irene answered all of them, and was super helpful and informative throughout the process. It took about two weeks, and I’m so happy that I was able to retire my malfunctioning Singer machine after using it for 20 years! The Janome I got is incredibly well made. Ashraf and Gloria were both very kind and helpful in making sure I got everything sorted. Thank you so much for your service. Hopefully I won’t need to repair my machine, but if I did, I would definitely go back here. They seem to be incredibly knowledgeable on sewing machine repair from everything I’ve heard.

Sarah’s Sewing Machine Repair Shop in Columbia, Md. In the middle of a sewing project my Jukie Sewing Machine began having issues. It was skipping stitches and sounding not normal. When I called Sarah’s Sewing Repair, Mr. Ashraf said to bring the machine in for a look. He quickly examined and identified the problem, offered a fair price and repair timeline. I explained that I was in the middle of a project. He looked through a pile of parts, found what was needed and said “sit down”, and in about 30 minutes he had repaired the problem and cleaned/lubricated the machine. Very professional and technical. If I could give the technician at Sarah Sewing machine 100 stars, I would. He repaired my machine while I waited after another shop said it needed a very expensive part. He was efficient, knowledgeable and kind. I highly recommend going here for sewing machine repairs.

This is my baby. I’ve had her since 1978. It was a gift from my parents. I’ve made every effort to take good care of her over the years. When I moved out of the country, I had it professionally packed and shipped by FedEx, but it arrived quite damaged. Unfortunately I didn’t unpack her for a while and didn’t realize it until too late. She functioned, but didn’t work well. Over the holidays, I’m visiting a friend in the states, so I decided to see if I could get all 26 pounds of her repaired. This was the first shop I called. I am so very pleased with Ashraf’s work, he was extremely reasonable, and the turnaround was within a week! My baby is as good as new!!! I brought my Janome machine in for repair. All of a sudden it had stopped working, the needle wouldn't move and the wheel would no longer turn. Within two weeks my machine was repaired and running perfectly, all at a reasonable price. So glad I found this business!

I brought my Juki industrial DDL8700 in for service. A needle broke while I was sewing and the machine could no longer sew. I called and was told they could help. Since I drove a long distance, I was told they would fix it while I waited. The owner fixed the timing of the machine and also showed me how to do it so I could (maybe!) fix it myself next time. Turns out Sarah Sewing Machines is also a Juki dealer and authorized repair facility, which made me very happy. Sarah sewing machines is a fourth generation family business dating back to 1889! They will be opening a new location in Springfield VA in Oct 2025.
