I have an old, mechanical, Pfaff Select 1540, sewing machine, that I’ve had for about 25 yrs. It’s been a workhorse for me over the years and helped me create me many costumes, clothes, alterations, you name it. When the presser foot started to freeze up, I panicked. The first place I took it tried twice to fix the issue but it always came back within a few months. I know that they didn’t replace anything, “just cleaned well and added lubricant.” Obviously, that didn’t work. I gave up and bought a new machine. But I just couldn’t bring myself to get rid of my old Pfaff. I really hoped it could still be fixed.
I ran across Sarah Sewing Machines while doing a search for repair shops in the area. Quite a few of the reviews talked about how Ashraf was able resurrect broken machines so I thought I’d give him a try. Ashraf immediately knew what the issue was and was confident he could fix it. He was upfront with the cost of the repair (included maintenance), which was reasonable and it was finished in a couple weeks. Ashraf said he replaced some parts in the presser foot bar so I’m way more confident that it’s not going to freeze up again! When I got home, I whipped up a quick book cover to give the machine a test drive. Stitches were perfect, tension was great and the presser foot went up and down without a hitch! I’m so happy to have my old machine back!!
Thanks, Ashraf!
