The new BC Public Health Order (PHO) effective 20 December 2021 restricting all inside gatherings to only those who are vaccinated, means there will be a lot of grumbling from those who denied their social responsibility and thus extended the Covid risk to us all by failing to get vaccinated - which not only gives the virus more breeding hosts to mutate but now our health is at risk from not having access to proper health care for all of our normal health needs because it is the unvaccinated who are now overwhelming our health workers already exhausted after almost 2 years of the Covid-19 pandemic.
"No man is an island" is quote from a sermon by the Dean of St Paul's Cathedral in 1642, as is "any man's death diminishes me, because I am involved in mankind. And never send for whom the bell tolls; it tolls for thee."
These quotes sum up the social connection and covenant we all have, and why the better of us feel it is our duty to help others even if they do not appreciate it. You may not agree with certain policies and you may have strong feelings but scientific facts must be our social foundation or we are all lost.
The sooner we follow all medical advice - as well as Health Orders - designed to deny the Covid-19 virus more breeding hosts, the sooner we can return to our pre-covid routine of ignoring the lesser viruses like colds and flu so we can be close and personal again with everyone including strangers. Remember when you would shake a stranger's hand in greeting ?
