Child Custody Agreements
We draft child custody agreements, including other child-related legal issues and concerns. We have over 30 years of successful experience helping thousands of different people solve their legal needs, especially family law issues.
As i explain in earlier posts, in BC child custody was changed by the 2013 Family Law Act to focus on child needs first so parents do not have custodial rights in priority to the needs of their children. Instead, parents, if they qualify as a Guardian, are eligible to share Parenting Responsibilities and Parenting Time.
Child Support is still dictated by the mandatory Child Support Guidelines, which list the amount of support each biological parent must pay for the care of their child, even if they do not have any Parenting Responsibilities nor Parenting Time.
One parent can retain us for personal legal advice as their lawyer or both parents can retain us as a neutral Mediator or Arbitrator to help both parents solve their legal issues. We are certified by LSBC as a family Mediator and Arbitrator as well as a Barrister & Solicitor.
