Any San Diego resident may visit San Diego Environmental Services on Miramar Place and request a lid at no charge. Additionally, you will need an awl or something similar and get the old hinges off, which is not easy to do the first few times.
Another service that I offer is bin maintenance will keep your bins in proper condition. And if the bin needs to be replaced, If done yourself, you must bring your old, dirty bin back and pick-up I your replacement (The city does deliver the bins for $25 but it can take upwards of two months. I get it done the next day.
