What is Runner’s Knee?
Runner’s Knee is a common condition that affects runners, cyclists, and anyone performing repetitive knee-bending activities. It’s caused by stress on the kneecap and its surrounding structures, resulting in pain, stiffness, or discomfort during physical activity.
Common Symptoms of Runner’s Knee:
Pain around or behind the kneecap, especially during running, walking, or squatting.
A grinding or popping sensation in the knee.
Pain that worsens after prolonged sitting or climbing stairs.
Mild swelling or tenderness around the knee joint.
What Causes Runner’s Knee?
Runner’s Knee can develop due to a variety of factors:
1️⃣ Overuse: Repetitive stress from running or other activities.
2️⃣ Weak Muscles: Insufficient strength in the quadriceps, glutes, or hamstrings.
3️⃣ Tightness and Imbalance: Tight hip or thigh muscles can disrupt knee mechanics.
4️⃣ Poor Foot Mechanics: Flat feet, improper footwear, or poor running form can increase stress on the knee.
