I would highly discourage anyone from renting at Ruth Court. I was there for 1 year and it was by far the worst rental experience I've had during the 15 years I've lived in Seattle. The only thing this place has going for it is the location. Where to begin? We'll start with structural. The walls are very thin and if you live on the top floor you can hear every footstep and word spoken on the rooftop. The appliances are incredibly cheap- a plastic piece of the dryer literally broke off while I was doing laundry (see attached picture). I notified maintenance and they said don't worry about it, and now that I've moved out they are trying to charge me a $65 "installation fee" to replace it. The buttons on the stove were so badly faded that I had to guess which burner I was turning on whenever I would cook. The back gate is always broken and the elevator is also down on a regular basis. Next, staff. I work from home as a psychiatric nurse practitioner and need to maintain a HIPAA compliant work environment while seeing patients. During the 1 year I lived there they tried to enter my unit on THREE separate occasions for different types of "inspections." During one of those inspections, I asked the maintenance person to come back a little later because I was on a video call with a patient and they stood in the hallway and argued with me for several minutes until I had to literally close the door in his face to get him to leave. And lastly, management. They provided conflicting information about the end date of my lease (the date on the lease was different from the date on the renewal letters they sent me) which resulted in a $1,500 charge for "unpaid rent" after moving out. They eventually reversed the charge, but it took a week of phone calls and emails to do it. So, in summary, if you enjoy thin walls, cheap appliances that you will inevitably end up paying a fee to replace when they break, frequent unit inspections, confrontational staff, an incredibly disorganized management team, and getting a massive bill with ludicrous charges when you move out, then Ruth Court is the place for you. If you do not enjoy these things, run, don't walk away!

It's not a bad building but the management is not great. I was charged a $260 "item removal fee" despite not leaving anything behind when moving out. Neither I nor the billing agent, was able to get a hold of the leasing office despite multiple calls and emails regarding the charge. Also, my dishwasher was broken for 6 months before they got around to fixing it.
