What is violation of probation?
A few days ago, I talked about what parole means. When people are released from jail or prison, they oftentimes have to go through a period of parole where they need to follow instructions imposed by the court.
These requirements might include:
- Living at an address that is cleared with the court.
- Not possessing firearms, alcohol, or drugs.
- Having a job.
- Going to school.
- Following a curfew.
- Not communicating with known criminals.
- Meeting with a parole officer regularly.
The requirements that the court imposes can differ given a person’s situation. But these are conditions for their release on parole. If it is found that a person violated these conditions for release, they are in violation of their parole and could be sent back to jail.
