Black widow spider females seldom ever leave their webs. She weaves a somewhat coarse silk web that is crooked, twisted, and uneven. Depending on her demands, this same web may be continually constructed or modified. The majority of the day is spent within her web by the female spider. She frequently appears hanging upside down. With her silk, the female catches her prey by wrapping it around the victim. A venom injection is used to kill the victim after the silk coating. The prey may be consumed right away or saved for a subsequent meal.
