Under some circumstances the trap arm/outlet from the wall may be too high for a dishwasher connection. They sell a “end outlet tubular waste” at most hardware stores that has a built in dishwasher connection. This works good in these conditions. I had to remove two deep basket strainers and add shallow ones for this to work for this situation. The trap arm was 22” coming out of the wall. Keep in mind plumbing code is different depending on where you are. Here in SC we are not required to have a high point air gap but it is strongly recommended to run the dishwasher discharge line up as high as possible. This is achieved by drilling the hole through the top rear of the cabinet where the dishwasher drain hose comes through. If by chance yours is low you can use a zip tie to secure it up as high as possible. One of the main reasons you want the hose up high as possible is in case the sink drain was to ever clog the first place the drain water will go is back down the dishwasher discharge hose, into the dishwasher a very possibly out the door of the dishwasher onto the floor.
