PVC vent pipes need proper gluing and support to last. Worth knowing, actually. When joints fail or pipes crack, sewer gases can escape into living spaces. Not dangerous in small amounts, but definitely unpleasant. This Zephyr Cove home had a faulty 3-inch vent section that needed replacing. Riley Plumbing & Heating cut out the damaged pipe above the taped fitting, installed new PVC sections with proper primer and cement, then strapped everything securely to the ceiling.
