I have been a patient at Riccobene Downtown for about 2 years now. For the most part I have had pleasant experiences at their downtown location until recently. The office was diligent in scheduling an appointment for me after I frantically called for a chipped tooth (bonding material had chipped). I came in the following morning and the tooth was evaluated, and was told my tooth could be fixed the same visit, and I was very thankful for this.
The tooth was “fixed” in about 45 minutes, and I made the mistake of not brining in my newly made Glidewell retainers, as I did not know the tooth was going to be fixed the same day, and the dentist’s demeanor changed after my honest mistake. Initially, the tooth looked fine, I requested a couple of rough areas be fixed, and they were fixed. I wasn’t completely happy with the shape, but it was probably just new and more noticeable to me.
I was told to go home to check if my retainers fit, and if they didn’t, to call and return for further assessment. I got home, and my retainers did not fit as normal and the alignment for my back teeth was thrown off, and would not fully click into place. I felt guilty even having to go back to have it fixed, but if I’m paying for an expensive cosmetic dental service, I felt it was necessary.
I go back, and I was apologizing for even having to come back to the office. The Dr. was not very pleasant after my return back, and told me my retainers fit, and didn’t see any issue. I requested the tooth be filed down more, and slightly reshaped since I was already there. I did not feel like my concerns were heard, and ultimately like my request was a burden or something.
After leaving AGAIN, I noticed there was an air bubble in the material used to shape my tooth back, in which I have taken photos of. I didn’t feel it was necessary to return to have anything redone or re-corrected after the demeanor from the Dr. I received upon my 2nd return back to the office.
Mistakes happen, however, if I am paying for a cosmetic dental fix, I feel like the Dr should have been more understanding of the patients needs. It’s not an insult to anyone’s work or ability to fix the issue, it’s a matter of the work done and the patient having to display your work on a daily basis, permanently. I will unfortunately not be returning back to Riccobene in the future, and will have the issues assessed by another dentistry office.
