During therapy sessions, I often felt interrupted when sharing, which made it hard to express myself. I frequently had to remind the therapist about what was happening in my life because their suggestions were sometimes triggering or impractical, creating additional stress. I rarely felt truly heard, and many sessions left me feeling more triggered and unsettled than before.
Despite visibly dissociating on camera multiple times, I was only given generic PDF suggestions for grounding techniques, which felt dismissive. I had been assured that this therapist would meet my needs, but that wasn’t the case. They often seemed distracted, typing or writing things down without actively listening, as evidenced by their responses, which sometimes missed the mark entirely.
After requesting a new therapist, I was told I’d be contacted within a week, but I haven’t heard anything since. This entire experience has been disheartening and unhelpful.
