Sprain vs Strain, what’s the difference?
You’ve probably heard both of these terms before, but did you know that they are different?
a SPRAIN is when you stretch, partially tear, or tear a ligament! (Ligaments connect bone to bone). Depending on how injured the ligament is will depend on how long it will take to heal, as fully torn ligaments take longer to heal.
a STRAIN is when you stretch, partially tear, or tear a muscle! Just like a sprain, the recovery time will depend on how injured the muscle is.
While these two things are different, they can happen at the same time! If your body is in a position for a sprain, it can be quite likely that the muscles are being stretched more than they would like as well, resulting in both happening at once.
Massage therapy can help with the recovery of both of these injuries! Come visit us if you are struggling with either!
