Second time on Redondo Special, and definitely the last.
We’ve booked this boat for group birthdays twice now, and today was the final straw. While the captain himself was nice and tried to be accommodating, almost everything else was a disaster.
Check-in was a joke. They tell you to be there at least 60 minutes early, but they didn’t even open their cashier until 40 minutes before departure. We were met by an older Japanese man who was incredibly rude from the moment we arrived. No greeting, no courtesy, just yelling COVID and attitude.
We dropped around $700 for a half day trip, including fishing licenses, not including food and the experience wasn’t worth a dime. Mike was useless—too busy hanging out, vaping and laughing with his friends instead of helping actual paying customers. The kitchen girl? Also rude. She got in our faces about one open Twisted Tea, even though we had just bought a full breakfast from her.
I had five rods set up by myself. I was untangling lines and unhooking fish for my friends because Mike claimed he was “busy helping 40 more people.” If that’s the case, maybe don’t overbook or hire more help?
And to top it off, that same rude Japanese man who gave us attitude at the door managed to tangle himself in our birthday boy’s fishing line and cut his line.
For a $15 difference, I’d rather fish with Monte Carlo any day. Way better crew, better vibes, and actual customer service from check-in.
Redondo Special? Never ever again.
