Redondo Special

One of my go to fishing boats. The crew is awesome and the burgers are great. Other passengers are pretty chill too. Last few times I went, I recall morning trips were mostly targeting rockfish and afternoon was bass. The Special is off season now for the first few months of the year then back in on the action in the spring in time for the rockfish season. Can't wait to be back on the boat. Oh and two bucks for parking if you park in the lot where the Captain Kidd and other restaurants are. Just remember to have the ticket stub validated in the tackle shop.

I went for the afternoon half day last week and was pleasantly surprised to see the former first mate Dan on the boat. I used to fish with Dan and his Dad on the Redondo Special a lot when I was younger. I think he may have brought good luck to the trip The boat only had about ten people which was pretty awesome. I caught this delicious white sea bass and 5 calico bass. Guy next to me lost two big ones that fought more like yellowtail. I ended the day with around 30 lbs of fillets which was a huge success One reason I really like this boat is because it fishes the Palos Verde kelp beds off Rocky Point. They also give a discount to veterans and seniors so it’s the best 1/2 day around Thank you for having me out!
