We need heroes. We all need someone to look up to. Someone to lead us, teach us, correct us. We don’t need perfection; it's more about perseverance and grit. We need someone to show us how to shake the dust off and get up again. To make us believe that tomorrow can be better than today.
That hero is a father.
A family needs a father who is courageous, kind, sacrificial, resilient, and fearless... (and maybe sometimes a little tender because little daughters need a shoulder to cry on). Being a father isn't just a title, it's about who you are.
Robert Blackman said, “‘Father’ is the noblest title a man can be given. It is more than a biological role. It signifies a patriarch, a leader, an exemplar, a confidant, a teacher, a hero, a friend.”
My own father bore this title and carried the torch well. My brother, Steve, and my brother-in-law, Lynn, do as well.
So, I wanted to take a moment to thank these true heroes. These fathers and father figures in our lives who have been the heroes we needed. In the good times and through the hard times.
Remember, tough times don't stick around forever, but tough men do.
Happy Father's Day. ❤️
