Here's a Nashville list of things to do for your car in the spring:
Check your tires. A flat tire on Nashvilles I-40 or I-65 is the last thing you want. Instead, look for signs of wear and tear and double-check that the air in the tires matches the PSI recommendation. Change any tires that are worn out, and if you don't already have a set of summer tires, get to a tire shop & order some.
Change your oil and other fluids. Spring is a good time to change your brake fluid, transmission fluid, coolant, and oil. Check your owner's manual to see when these changes should be made. This one thing will save you more tow truck service calls than any other preventitative measure.
See if your brakes work: Make sure your brakes are working right and the pads are thick enough. Notice squealing noises or shaking from the wheel area? This can be a result of worn brake pads. Get them checked out.
Check the battery: Look for signs of corrosion on your battery and test it to ensure it can hold a charge. Slap a new battery in the vehicle if it is over three years old or doesn't hold a charge.
Check your air conditioner. Summer in Middle Tennessee are hot and sultry. Make sure your air conditioner is working right by testing it. If you see any problems, you should have a professional fix them.
