We brought in our 2023 Ford Transit Van for a dent repair and window repair. Our experience with Quality One Dent was the worst we’ve experienced with any company to date. Our advice if you use them is to fully check their work before you sign and pay, or good luck trying to get them to follow through on a quality job. This was our mistake and a lesson learned we’ll take forward into the future. Below are the details of our experience (it’s a lot but we could have said more). Photos attached are the dents, scratches, smudges and over all finishes after their "completed" job.
A few days after we dropped off our van, they called and let us know our van was ready for pick-up ahead of schedule. We were in a rush when we picked it up – we signed the paperwork and paid. The Owner, JP, drove the van around and gave us the keys himself. Once we got the van home and took a look at the work – it was awful. There were new dents, scratched paint with exposed metal and the brand new window was sagging in its setting with the glass resting directly on the metal frame. The brand new window that we provided was scratched, smudged with adhesive and after having to be removed, damaged and no longer brand new. We were surprised the owner didn't notice the poor job prior to giving us back the van.
We asked for a refund until the job was complete. The owner, JP, said no citing accounting complexities. He promised he and the owner of his sub contractor would handle the repairs of the damages they caused themselves and blamed the employee who did the first job. A big concern at this point was the new window was now damaged (scratched and adhesive all over). Because of our poor experience so far, we asked for photos of the progress along the way so we were sure the window was cleaned well prior to being set into the van again. We wanted to be sure of a clean adhesion. JP agreed to these steps. Over the next few days while they worked on the van, we followed to ask for photos of the updates we'd been promised. We had no response or updates from them until the job was complete. We also suggested for them to get a new window versus trying to salvage the now damaged window. They ignored this suggestion all together.
When we received the van back for a second time the dents they'd caused were fixed, but our new window was damaged even further. They also failed to prime the bare metal inside the van. There are gouges on the interior of the metal frame. There are also scratches and adhesive smudges all over the edge of the windows. From here, JP offered to paint over the scratches. We did not want paint patches on our new window.
We showed them that the brand new window was still (even further) damaged – how they weren’t noticing any of these damages along the way before returning to us our van was baffling. They then told us to take it up with their subtractor, Speedy Glass, to get the window replaced. Speedy Glass said they would replace our window with a “house” brand (not the window we provided) at an additional discounted labor cost.
We were upset because we had 1) already paid Quality One Dent for the entire job and 2) did not want an off-brand window. We wanted the window we purchased and provided them installed damage free at no additional cost.
While this was all getting sorted, we put a reverse and hold on the payment through the bank in an effort to get them to finish the job. During this time, they absolutely would not take or return our calls. We continually tried to get in touch with them offering to meet so we could discuss how to get this issue resolved in a fair way. They would sometimes reply to an email – but not until we had the payment reversed and held through the bank. At this point, they threatened to send us to collections… even though the job was not done.
After months of this – their subcontractor finally replaced the window at no additional cost. The job was not done to a quality level, but it’s good enough and we’re ready to to move on.
