Stopped by for the rice and curry and it did not disappoint. The plate came with a generous portion of rice and a great variety of freshly prepared curries, each with its own distinct flavour. The balance of spices was just right — rich, comforting, and not overly oily. You can really taste the homemade style in every dish. It’s a simple, relaxed spot with friendly staff who explain what’s available for the day. Very affordable for the quality and quantity you get. If you’re looking for authentic Sri Lankan rice and curry, this is definitely worth a visit.

Great local place in Kandy. It felt very local, it was very busy when we arrived but we were the only western foreigners there. The staff were very friendly and helped explain how it worked as you basically select your curries with meat being slightly more expensive. For two meals it came to scout 700 rupees which seemed very cheap and the meal was a decent size (despite what somebody else said). Would come again.

A fantastic little spot for authentic Sri Lankan and South Indian food! We had the chicken chukka with garlic parota and a paneer dish, and both were packed with rich spices and incredible flavour. Everything tasted freshly made and perfectly balanced. It’s a simple, low-key place where the staff explain the available dishes instead of handing you a menu, which actually makes the experience feel more personal. Prices are very reasonable for the quality you get. If you can, grab a seat upstairs — the view is peaceful and adds to the charm.

Very tasty food but portions are small so you might consider ordering two main courses. Vegetarian options available. Good value for money. Sitting outside on the upper level was nice. Staff friendly.

We went there for dinner and had a very delicious meal out on the balcony that gives you a great view of the street and hills. The kottu was great and the vegetable curries as well, and our different wishes (vegetarian and vegan) were no problem for them to adapt. A very good experience and very inexpensive as well. Three meals and drinks for around 1500 Rs was not what we expected after such a tasty dinner :)

We sat at the terrace and had the best cheese egg kottu in Sri Lanka. Definitely try it! Recommend more tourists to go for a local restaurant experience. They might not have everything on the menu but will make you a delicious meal

If you’re a rice & curry lover, this place is heaven! 🍛 So many choices – around 15 veggie dishes and 10+ non-veg – all fresh, tasty, and budget-friendly. Can’t wait to go back and try more varieties.

READ THIS FIRST! You can have a good dining experience here if you know what to expect. 1. The menu listed on google and other sites is no longer applicable. There is a shorter menu available that may change daily depending on what the restaurant has. I enjoyed a vegetarian curry platter and my husband liked the chicken chukka, naan was really nice 👍 2. This isn't a fast food place. If you want something fast, this may not be the best place for you. Our second night the food came faster, but you can expect to wait about 20-30 minutes depending on how busy it is. 3. Servers are not always around. There are multiple levels to the restaurant and you may be go 5-10 minutes without seeing anyone. After getting our food, I helped myself to some napkins behind the bar after waiting a few minutes. That being said, the staff is very kind and accommodating. 4. This isn't western food. The chicken you order back home for example may look very different than what you get here, when it is on the bone. It's all very delicious. No they are not ripping you off. The prices are very affordable and the food tastes delicious. Just give yourself some extra time to enjoy and be open minded to try what they are able to serve and you will have a nice experience!

Visited Putchutney and honestly had the best rice and curry experience ever. The variety they offer is incredible, and every item was full of flavour and perfectly cooked. It really felt like a home-cooked meal with restaurant quality. The service was warm, attentive, and made the whole meal even better. Truly one of the finest places for an authentic Sri Lankan/Indian meal. Highly recommend to everyone!

The Cheese Kothu was super delicious and full of flavour! Perfectly cooked with melted cheese and authentic spices. Great taste, good portion, and affordable price. Definitely one of the best cheese kothu I’ve tried. Highly recommended!
