Stages Of Cervical Cancer
The progression of cervical cancer passes through several stages beginning from Stage 0 (carcinoma in situ) and ending with Stage 4 (advanced disease). During Stage 0 cancer cells remain in the cervical area but Stage 1 cancer becomes invasive to the cervix. The cancer progresses into Stage 2 by spreading into adjoining tissues before reaching Stage 3 which indicates pelvic wall invasion and ultimately advancing to Stage 4 when disease spreads to different distant organs. The key to successful medical treatment depends on detecting cervical cancer early through Pap smears together with HPV testing.
