Fatty Liver Disease Affects
In non-alcoholic fatty liver disease (NAFLD), an excess of lipids is deposited in hepatocytes, which causes inflammation that may result in the development of non-alcoholic steatohepatitis (NASH). Obesity, insulin resistance, dyslipidemia are risk factors. The cornerstone of management is early intervention using lifestyle changes and pharmacological treatment to reduce fibrosis of the liver to avoid complications of it, including cirrhosis and the development of hepatocellular carcinoma.
