A Breath of Fresh Air: Future Directions in Lung Cancer
Undoubtedly, recent achievements in lung cancer are encouraging, especially regarding NSCLC. Future directions are likely to take a genetic profile-oriented modifying targeting therapies combined with immunotherapy approaches and reduction of chemotherapy use. Landmark clinical studies made it clear that patient populations with certain molecular alterations can benefit from new medications. Also, integration of new platforms, like lung-on-organ chips, is deepening our knowledge of how tumors grow and respond to treatment, thus leading to better treatments and predication modalities.
