Colon Cancer: Breaking Down The Facts
Earlier ranked as the second foremost reason for cancer death globally, colon cancer or colorectal cancer remain a critical issue. For this disease, it was estimated that globally, there are about 1.9 million new incidences in 2020. The disease usually evolves from polyps that form in the colon's lining, and such polyps are prone to formation due to age factors, dietary habits, and hereditary factors. Though such conditions were more common in older people, the numbers have decreased due to widespread screening and have grown within the age bracket of below 50. Thus, efforts are needed to make early diagnoses and treatments, as the survival rate in the US is only around 65%, which can indeed be improved.
