As mentioned in my last post, one of my values is bridging the gap between science, training, and rehab. I wouldn’t be challenging the way rehab is prescribed without research.
88% of then population will experience low back pain and only 6% are true pathoanatomical injuries (fractures, cancer, etc).
Those with smaller waist line circumferences, greater back extensor endurance and VO2 max are less likely to experience low back pain.
Weak backs are painful backs!
Resistance training is shown to reduce low back pain, improve strength, endurance, VO2 max, reduce fatty infiltrate, decrease the risk of metabolic syndrome, and improve one’s overall quality of life! This is huge!! And guess what… lifting is not only protective but very functional.
Stay tuned for more posts regarding low back pain and all hot topics regarding movement mechanics, evidence supported exercises, etc! Any questions, shoot them my way!
