The starting point is the panels on the roof of your home. Solar PV panels produce direct current (DC) electricity, but the appliances in your home require alternating current (AC) electricity. For this reason, an inverter is used to convert the DC from the panels into AC.
The electricity generated by your solar panels (and converted into AC by the inverter) then flows to the appliances in your home, via your fuse board.
