I had a very poor experience with Progressive due to a bait-and-switch style premium increase.
On 10/22/2025, I purchased an auto policy quoted at $115/month. During the application, I fully disclosed that my 19-year-old son lives with me and is unlicensed with an Ohio temporary permit, and I correctly listed him as a non-licensed driver in the app. The policy was issued at the quoted rate with no warnings or disclosures.
About a week later, a Progressive underwriter called and told me my premium would jump to $250/month unless I excluded my son, despite the fact that this information was already known at the time of purchase. Nothing about my situation had changed. The increase was never disclosed upfront.
I cancelled the policy and switched insurers. I now have auto + homeowners insurance together for less than Progressive’s original $115 quote for liability-only auto coverage. That says everything. I would not recommend Progressive if you expect transparent pricing or quotes that reflect the real cost.
Nope, these are facts.... Don't hide. I got all the paperwork. You represent Progressive and they are responsible.
