After consulting with Professor Frampton at Guildford's Nuffield, he arranged an MRI & other tests concerning intermittent pain & discomfort within my rib cage. Results confirmed a large cyst under tension in my liver which I was anxious should not continue growing (from my past medical experiences) to the point of painfully rupturing. He explained the preferable option of dealing with it was a 'de-roofing' via robotic surgery due to its position etc, with which I agreed. This was available up at The Cromwell, where he very skilfully used a Robot to navigate past important internal structures, excess fat, & through adhesions from previous operations I've had. This resulted in minimal operative consequence to my abdomen, & to me post-operatively - meaning I awoke from the general anaesthetic without the significant pain I recall from several past 'open surgery' type operations. Professor Frampton came to see me before the operation and ask me if I had any questions etc, & afterwards to see how I was feeling & let me know how the operation had gone. I was only in that hospital for 48hrs & left with just a little discomfort (from bumps in the road on the journey home), and five small glue-covered external incisions from the Robot's arms across the front of my waistline. They healed quickly & my only instructions were No Lifting for first 6wks, and to take Paracetamol & occasionally DHCodeine for some understandable right-sided abdominal tenderness. That steadily tailed off along with v.mild discomfort when hicupping/sneezing, as I healed internally whilst taking things easily (& light exercise) at home over next 12-14 days. Professor Frampton has rung me since with the histology results (benign as thought, thankfully). He has also arranged for me to have a 3month Follow Up MRI with Contrast, to see how things are looking with the Cyst's site etc. I was anxious about having this operation, particularly 77, but it transpired to be an amazingly positive experience for which I cannot thank & recommend Professor Frampton highly enough - not only for his surgical & Robotic expertise, but also his conscientious & professional assessment of my health pre & post surgery, his reassuring explanations & his most pleasant communication personally throughout (administratively coordinated by his excellent PA)!conscientious & professional assessment of my health pre & post surgery, his reassuring explanations & his most pleasant communication personally throughout (administratively coordinated by his excellent PA based at Guildford's Nuffield).t

I recently underwent a hernia operation at Guildford Nuffield Hospital. Prof. Frampton provided an excellent initial consultation at which he clearly and comprehensively set out the options for treatment. He identified the potential benefits and risks so that I could make an informed decision. No operation is a pleasure, but Prof Frampton provided admirable support throughout, both immediately before and after the procedure, and at the post-operative review; he inspired confidence throughout the entire procedure thus reducing anxiety to an absolute minimum.
