Long winter says the Groundhog! If colder days are sticking around, now is the time to make sure your pipes are protected. At Primo Sewer Cleaning, we recommend insulating exposed pipes in basements, crawl spaces, garages, and attics to prevent freezing. Seal cracks and gaps around windows, doors, and your foundation to keep cold air away from plumbing lines. During extreme cold spells, let faucets drip slightly to keep water moving, and open cabinet doors under sinks—especially along exterior walls—so warm air can circulate. Disconnect and drain outdoor hoses, shut off exterior spigots if possible, and winterize sprinkler systems before temperatures drop too low. Keep your thermostat set consistently, even if you’re away, and know where your main water shutoff valve is located in case of an emergency. If you suspect a frozen pipe, thaw it gently with warm air—never an open flame. A little prevention now can save you from costly repairs later.
