Think twice before engaging Prime Home Improvements to do any work for you. They are unreliable, unprofessional and should not be trusted.
I lost £1,800 with this builder. After I placed my job on JobaQuote website, Charles expressed an interest and came to assess what was needed and quoted a price of £2,550. A few days later, he came again with his business partner and suggested that some parts of the wall require rendering and so the price went up to £3,500.
The repair work got to an awful start when on the first day, two young men turned and by midafternoon did so many thing badly that I called Charles who assured me that they will all be rectified and at the end it will look excellent. The second day was even worse. Charles and his business partner told me that the cracks in the rendered parts of the wall would not be repaired before painting because it takes too long unless I agreed to pay even more money. I asked Charles why I had to pay more given the original quote clearly said, “prime and paint the walls” and in the revised increased quote it said, “rendering where required”. Basically, they took £1,800, left the site mid-afternoon in a mess promising that they would be back the next day to sort out this mess. Guess what, they never returned. I called him several times over the following week and each time Charles said he would sort out the issues and finish the job but at the end he said he would not return.
His work on my house was not just incomplete but with so many errors that now I need to pay someone a lot more money to start all over again. Also, by climbing onto the tiled roof of our porch, they damaged several tiles, which they threw away without even telling us. I had to get a local roofer to replace the broken and missing tiles.
Charles operating as Prime Home Improvements is a contractor and does not do the job himself but passes it on to cheap incompetent labourers. I hope no one has to go through such stressful and awful experience. This firm promised a lot and delivered nothing.
