About
Portola Pianoworks is the San Carlos workshop of piano technician Brian Fox. While I am typically out in the field working on pianos, I also manage a number of restoration projects here in the shop.

Hired Brian of Portola Pianoworks to tune a grand piano that had been left idle for 6 years. He responded quickly to the request for a quote, and was available the next day. He came promptly at the appointed time, observed appropriate covid-19 precautions, and performed a thorough tuning of the piano in a little under two hours at a reasonable price. Thank you for professional, courteous service!

Brian was recommended to me by my piano dealer. He was very professional in all respects: responded promptly to my request for a visit, was super punctual, and answered all my newbie questions with patience and care. I appreciated that even without mentioning, he took off his shoes in hour shoe-free home. He gave the piano its first tuning after the factory and judiciously kept the tune a bit sharp (as it came from the factory) to let the piano keep settling and strings stretching.
