We have had our sailboat at Port Superior for 5 years. Our experience with the marina is highly positive. It is well sheltered from heavy weather; the staff is friendly and helpful; and the amenities (including the club house and swimming pool) are great.

We stayed at Port Superior Marina for a week over the July 4th holiday. We chose this marina because we have friends there but also the list of amenities their website claims to be available to all. Since our boat doesn’t have a galley, we specifically asked when we called and made our reservation, if transients indeed had access to their clubhouse, which has a full kitchen, laundry and private bathrooms for showering. We were told “yes”. Upon our arrival, we were told we could access the pool and were given a code (by other boaters; not the Marina staff) for the restrooms over at the ship store. When my husband inquired about the clubhouse, he was told that “only dock owners and members” had access to that area. The next day when I inquired, I was told the same thing. So I went on their website, thinking I must have really missed something to think we had access. It says right on there that transients “enjoy FULL use of our resort amenities.” I went to the office again to inquire and showed them what it says on their site. The guy in the office said he wasn’t sure what that meant. I told him I wasn’t trying to be rude, but just didn’t understand why we did not have access to the clubhouse & that thankfully we had brought a camp stove with us in case we stayed out on an island. (otherwise I couldn’t cook anything.) He said the manager, Kelly was gone for the day but would be there in the morning, but she wasn’t when I stopped in again. Others have said they are transients but were offered to purchase a fob to use while they stay. We were not offered that option. If they have updated their policy, but the website hasn’t been changed, they should honor their guests. What does it hurt? A little customer service goes a long way. I emailed the marina regarding this and haven’t received any reply to date. The location is great, there is a nice pool and restaurant & great outdoor spaces. The docks are in need of updating and slips are small. Most boats are too big for their particular slip, so inquire about actual dock length if you stay here.
