✅ 1.Recognition as a Distinct Healthcare Profession: Physios are officially recognized as healthcare professionals, not technicians or paramedics.The Act distinguishes Physiotherapy as a standalone, independent profession under the "Allied and Healthcare Professionals" category.✅ 2. Legal Right to Use the Title “Dr.”
Physios holding a Bachelor’s degree (BPT) from recognized institutions, & registered under the appropriate State/National Councils, are entitled to use the title “Dr.”,
This title signifies academic and clinical authority, not a favor.✅ 3. Independent Clinical Practice:
Physios can Examine, assess, diagnose functional impairments.Plan and execute independent treatment protocols.✅ 4. Regulation and Standardization:
The Act ensures: National-level registration and regulation through the National Commission and State Councils.Prevention of quackery and unqualified practice.✅ 5. Academic and Research Authority:
Physiotherapists can
Teach in physiotherapy colleges.
Guide students and research scholars.
Conduct and publish scientific research in rehabilitation, pain management, etc.✅ 6.Physios Are now being integrated into the AYUSH and National Health Mission system.✅7.Representation and Advocacy:
Physios now have official representation at the national level,This helps in policy-making, healthcare reforms, and pushing for inclusion in insurance, legal,& medico-legal matters.
