Restoration
Restoration of just about anything, including any wood, stone, metal, or natural materials. Furniture, fireplaces, clocks, statuary, objects of art, etc. Specializing in antique, sentimental, and family heirloom level furniture of all varieties. Visit: penningtonfinishes.com for more information.
Wood staining
I use transparent dyes to retain the clarity of grain and shimmer that some wood species exhibit. I also typically custom mix all my solvent based stain colors, especially if a perfect match is required. Sun faded areas adjacent to repairs are sometimes left, and require special color adjustment.

I knew from the first time I talked to Michael that he was the exact right person to entrust with our family heirloom. He transformed our sad, broken, tattered little birdseye maple dresser back into the beautiful piece of furniture it once was. He's an amazing craftsman and and a delightful person that really cares about each piece he works on. I had almost given up on finding someone to restore the dresser but I'm so glad I didn't!

Mike began his work with us by doing a consultation in our house to tell us how he could restore/update our 1948 liquor cabinet. He used the lines and colors in our home as the guide for his work. He artfully brought this battered piece of furniture back to life in a magnificent fashion that makes it appear as though it was built specifically for us. Mike anticipated questions and desires and was available for these at all times. He was also very accommodating to mid-project changes.
