🍁 A Thanksgiving Reminder: Your Career Is Built on the People Who Bet On You 🍁
As a career coach, I get a behind-the-scenes look at how careers really move forward, and it’s rarely just hard work. It’s mentors who answer late-night calls, coworkers who quietly catch mistakes, clients who trust you before you fully believe in yourself, and friends who make introductions with no expectation of return.
In the spirit of Thanksgiving, take this week to express gratitude for those who have helped you along the way.
1️⃣ Reconnect with someone who opened a door for you
Tell them exactly what that opportunity led to.
2️⃣ Thank a colleague for a specific behavior (not a trait)
Instead of “You’re great”—try “You stayed late to prep that deck. That changed our pitch.”
3️⃣ Acknowledge the people others don’t see
Assistants, coordinators, analysts, ops teams. They rarely get public recognition.
📌 A start to your thank-you template:
Hi [Name], as we head into Thanksgiving, I’ve been reflecting on people who've shaped my year. You [specific action], and it led to [specific outcome]. I'm really grateful, and I don’t take it for granted.
It honors the people who helped you become who you are, and it strengthens the relationships that carry you forward. 🦃 Happy Thanksgiving!
